Our home basePest control in Dymchurch
Your local pest controller, based right here in Dymchurch.
Dymchurch is our home. We are based on Seabourne Way, so for anyone in the village a visit is about as local as it gets. The long sandy beach, the caravan and holiday parks and the closeness to open marsh all bring their own pest pressures, especially through the summer season.
From a wasp nest in a holiday let to mice in a seafront home, we come out quickly and sort it properly, with treatments placed safely around families, pets and visitors.
Pest Control From Our Base in Dymchurch
Cinque Ports Pest Control is based at 9 Seabourne Way in Dymchurch, open Monday to Sunday from 6am to 8pm, with a same-day response for urgent pest problems. John Lacey has been in the trade since 2001, and the business looks after homes, holiday lets, businesses and industrial sites in the village and across the Marsh. We are members of the British Pest Control Association and approved through Kent Trading Standards Checked, and there is more about the family behind the business on our about us page.
Holiday Homes, Caravans and the Summer Season
Dymchurch sits at the very edge of Romney Marsh, and Visit South East England describes a Blue Flag sandy beach, a stop on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, and accommodation ranging from hotels and bed and breakfasts to caravans and a large holiday park. A busy summer season brings its own pests.
Bed bugs travel in luggage, and the Natural History Museum names hotels and guest houses as the highest risk because of the number of travellers passing through. Holiday lets and caravans that change hands often are worth checking between guests, and our bed bug treatment page covers the signs.
Wasp nests start small in spring and can house thousands of wasps by late summer, the height of the holiday season, so the sooner a nest is dealt with the better. See wasp nest removal. Along the seafront, the RSPB notes that herring gulls nest on town rooftops and feed on discarded rubbish. Gulls are protected by law, so proofing a roof before the nesting season is the practical answer, as our seagull and bird control page explains.
Dymchurch and the Marsh
Dymchurch has long been tied to the running of the Marsh. New Hall in the village, a late 16th century timber framed building, holds the court room of the Lords of the Level and was the centre of Romney Marsh administration, according to Kent County Council's heritage record. Behind the village, the Marsh is drained by around 350km of maintained watercourses.
That matters for rats. The Wildlife Trusts list farmland, wetlands and freshwater among the brown rat's habitats, and brown rats dig their own burrows, so homes and outbuildings close to dykes and fields are worth proofing well. Our rat and mouse control page covers the signs to look for, and the Romney Marsh page covers the rest of the Marsh.
